Best Friends Adoption Weekend Sept 15-17

Angel’s Wish is partnering with Best Friends Animal Society, a leading animal welfare organization for the sixth National Adoption Weekend happening September 15-17 with reduced adoption fees on adoptable cats. Some of the cats that have been waiting the longest will have their adoption fees completely waived.

As area shelters are packed with animals, this weekend comes at a key time to help animals get adopted and save more lives. Angel’s Wish volunteers are caring for more than 200 cats, most of them kittens. Nearly 100 of them are ready to go home this weekend and will already have had spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, testing for Feline Leukemia and FIV, and microchips.

People interested in adopting should apply for adoption online as soon as possible as only pre-approved adopters can adopt during the event.

The Angel’s Wish Verona Adoption and Resource Center will be open on Saturday, September 16 from 10am to 4pm. Cats will be also available on Sunday, September 17 from noon to 3pm at Petsmart East, 2216 East Springs Drive, Madison. The following cats will be available to be met by appointment only on Sunday for pre-approved adopters at our Verona Adoption Center: Shiloh & Scotty, Kelsey, Hex, Ziggy, Turbo, Phoebe, Kit, Vida, Neo, Charlene and Buttons. Best Friends Animal Society, and more than 500 shelter and rescue partners have joined together for the national event to help alleviate overcapacity issues shelters across the country are facing. By adopting a dog or cat looking for a loving home, two lives are saved – that of the adopted pet, and another homeless animal that can now take their space. Individuals can help save lives by choosing to adopt a from local shelters or rescue groups, instead of purchasing from a breeder or store.

“We are thrilled to host our sixth National Adoption Weekend, encouraging everyone in the community to save a life and add a new pet to their home,” said Julie Castle, CEO, Best Friends Animal Society. “Even if you can’t add to your family right now, you can take steps to make the country no-kill, including spaying or neutering your own pets, fostering kittens or an adult dog, volunteering, donating, and advocating for proven lifesaving programming for local pets,” added Castle.tfriends.org.
