I wanted to fill you in on the brothers’ adjustment to our home. They are doing very well – we actually renamed them- The little light gray one is now Gusto – because that is how he approaches life- full speed ahead and whole heartedly! With his brother, we stayed with the Egyptian theme and named him Ptolemy (we call him Ptol for short) because he is more judicial in his approach, taking the time to think through a plan and make sure he has studied the situation before taking action. We love them dearly.
They have just started having short excursions ranging around a couple of hours out of their kitten room into the rest of the house the past three or four days. They are realizing that their new home is much bigger than the guest bedroom they have been staying in and they love exploring and running around the hallways. They still spend their nights in the room though while we gradually allow them to become acclimated to the house and our resident cats.
Buster, the younger of our two older cats (around 4 yrs old) has decided that the kittens are a welcome addition to the family- though they can get a little sniffy and persistent at times- and has even had a few moments of brotherly bathing with them. Loki (8 yrs old) wants to be sure they realize that he is the boss, and will glare at them when they get within about 4 feet of him- but he is no longer actively vocal in his opinion- he is never alone with them and we are always close whenever the babies are exploring the rest of the house- it is a gradual process and we know not to push it.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to have these little fluff balls- we adore them!
