Earlier this year, Angel’s Wish welcomed 25 cats from a large-scale rescue effort in northern Wisconsin—cats who urgently needed medical care, safety, and a fresh start.
Be The Change Rescue, Inc., a small rescue based in Edgar, hear about a situation of nearly 100 cats living in a home in Iola. The owner, who is terminally ill, loved her animals deeply but had become overwhelmed, and the situation had grown far beyond what she could manage. With the local shelter unable to assist and Be The Change stretched to their limits, they reached out to organizations like Angel’s Wish and Dane County Humane Society (DCHS) for help.
On February 3, Be The Change volunteers transported 43 cats to DCHS for initial medical exams. Many were struggling with significant health concerns—dental disease, untreated infections, and skin issues caused by severe flea infestations. After exams, 18 remained at DCHS for care, while 25 made their way to Angel’s Wish.

Our volunteers worked late into the night to make sure each cat had what they needed: medicated baths, flea treatment, deworming, vaccines, nail trims, and warm, clean spaces to rest. For many, it was likely the first time they had been truly comfortable in months.
The next day, 16 of the cats underwent surgery. Through our partnership with DCHS’s Shelter Support System, 10 cats received spay/neuter surgeries at DCHS, with several also undergoing dental procedures or polyp removal. Precision Veterinary cared for others, treating severe ear infections, “pillow foot,” and additional medical concerns. Nine more cats returned to Precision later that week for spay/neuter and medical exams.
Even after everything they had been through, these cats showed so much resilience—leaning into pets, purring with relief, and settling into their new safe spaces.

Today, their journey continues. Five have already found loving homes, and 18 more are ready and waiting to meet adopters who will give them the kindness and stability they deserve.
Angel’s Wish relies on our community to make rescues like this possible. Your support gives vulnerable cats a chance to heal, to trust again, and to finally know what a loving home feels like.
